This morning I went to capture some footage on my DVX 100b, and after seeing some artifacts in my playback, used a head cleaner tape for about 10 seconds, when I put the tape back in, or any tape, it won't play back anything, it wont even show me the timecode on the lcd screen.

I have been using the dvx 100a and b for several years and havent had this issue. Any suggestions? Thanks! Swerver

I am just looking for some advice. I appreciate any, I am just trying to finish a project deadline, and really need to know if I need to find another camera, or if it is just something simple!

Artifacts or pixelation spell out dropouts due to head clogging up with the usual tape residue or particles. Sometimes a professional head clean is necessary. At times no matter how many times the head cleaning tape is used, it still will not dislodge the clog. Don't overdo the cleaning as it wears out the head fast. I would getting another camera if deadline is coming up and the content is important. Not showing timecode also means head clog as in the read mode there is not enough info written on the time code track for the heads to pick up properly. In many cases I have put the pixelated tape on another camera ( really doesn't matter which) and it played back fine as the other camera's heads were clean for playback and could pickup the info however faint. It's worth a try, but don't risk taping with dirty heads.
