Me and my friends are planning to produce a movie with the DVX, we are also planning to by a 16 by 9 adaptor, how do you use them?
I just need sombody's explanation...

I know that this is a rather dumb question, but we have never shot with a "nice" camera before, and are somewhat non-technical people with a low-budget.

You can purchase the Panasonic adapter:

You attach it to the front of the lens and shoot. Setup to shoot 4:3. The image will look "distorted", but will be fine when you use a 16:9 monitor.
There are more people that are far more knowledgeable about equipment here than I am.

Get Barry's book! There's a whole chapter devoted to using the anamorphic adapter - there's lots to learn and you'll just get frustrated if you don't know what you are doing (and I haven't seen the information you'll need anywhere else). The book has tables etc... so you can get the focus right (autofocus won't work). Barry's book is worth the price for this reason alone, let alone for the other valuable information in it.
I'll even go so far as to say that if you don't get his book, you'll end up with crap footage and just get frustrated trying to understand how to get it right. If you do get his book and devote a day to understanding how to use the anamorphic adapter, you'll know how to get footage that looks good the first time.
