So now I can say I am Vegas man ;D

Now I will need to ask you one question: is it important to register my Vegas?
It is academic version so maybe I will have problems with registering...or maybe it is not so important to register the software with SONY?

What do you think?
Thanks.

Good for you. What makes you so sure it is Academic? (Im not saying it isn't) Was it priced for Academic sales or is it literally Academic.

I bought my Vegas for 258.00 (Plus Acid 4.0, Vision Series 1 and PLUS DVD) and it is the full version.

Yes, it is academic but has all the stuff you mentioned.
It's academic cos you got to be a teacher or student to get one.

Acid 4.0 is just a music mixing software (I like alot and it will do me fine). The vision series are just creative backgrounds (lasers and pretty designs) and I doubt ill ever use them for anything except if I filmed a mock news cast)

I think you have the FULL version and it is called ACADEMIC only cause its priced for Academic buyers. Youre all good!

thanks i am so excited!!!

Could you tell me what (company) and how big should an external hard drive be to be able to edit? I am going to buy one soon.

And do I need a monitor? Or just laptop screen will do?

And what speakers do I need? I have those small and cheap ones so problably I will need something better?

Thanks,

Ouch!

For that question I would search the threads as well as post a new topic in the Cafe (to get widespread opinions). I view my stuff on Headphones typically so I can really hear the details!

Yes, there is no "academic version" of Vegas, but rather the full version is available at reduced price for academic users.

AFAIK, you will have to register the software sooner or later to use certain features (such as mpeg2 encoding). There's no reason why you wouldn't want to register your software anyway.

BTW, I hope I don't ruin your day, but just FYI version 5.0 of the software will be announced in a few weeks.

John, how did you get that price? And with Acid to boot? Where'd you buy it from?
