I just got my 7Q - Now what can I really do with it?

I amazingly have already received my 7Q (thanks Terry of Texas Media Systems) with 2 256GB SSDs (thanks Olaf and Sharyn of Westside AV) along with a 4K-Updated FS700 (thanks Sony service). I have read all the posts on the 7Q, upcoming updates, etc. I have a feeling that I won't be able to do that much until the next big update, but could we have a list of what it can record now? I have not yet ordered the FS700-specific paid-for activation from Convergent Designs, although I will immediately if it make sense.

So what can I record over either HDMI or SDI now, frame rates, codecs, etc? Thanks so much for any advice here.

You can:

- Record the 1080 video out to DPX files, although I doubt you'd want to.
- Use the Odyssey7Q as a killer monitor with lots of image analysis tools
- Use the FS700 record option in demo mode right now to try it out (blue line through your recorded image)
- (In demo) See and record 2K RAW up to 240p
- (In demo) See 4K downsampled to a higher quality 1080p than the camera can do. This signal can be sent to another recorder and captured today.
- Impress your friend with your sweet new early Christmas gift.

Follow the owner's manual to go into FS700 mode. Even if you have not paid for this record option you can still use it in demo mode, which is all you need here. Then switch your camera to output 4K RAW and set a picture profile to Slog2. The Odyssey should do the rest automatically.
