I have a bit of a dilemma

I'm going to be shooting a music video that takes place inside a mad scientist's laboratory that will kind of have the same feel as the videos for The White Stripes "Blue Orchid" mixed with NIN "Closer". What I am stuck on is trying to decide which would work best for this, 16mm or HVX with adapter? What do you think?
 
If you want exactly the look of the NIN video, I think you have to go film. Magic bullet is sweet but you'd be tweaking forever to get all that stuff that happens by accident with poorly handled film.
The bigger question is... why clone something that's 15 years old?
