I hate Morgan Spurlock

Anyone ever hear of moderation and balance? I don't eat at fast food placed very often but I find that a well place trip to In-N-Out is a real treat. I probably eat out a couple of times a month. I don't find any food place inherently evil. It's more how you treat it. Actually, given my choice it would probably be Mexican food. Lard, anyone? Try a little moderation and you'll be fine.

Apparently I was the only one offended.

No, you weren't the only one offended. I read your link to the story and my first thought was, "What a jerk!". I was offended, too.

I'm not the most politically correct person on the planet, and I think that a lot of the human condition is fair game for comedy. But there's a line between comedy and insulting put downs, and Spurlock not only crossed that line, but went into "I'm a stupid, self-centered moron who can't see beyond my own nose and will get a cheap laugh at anyone's expense" territory.

Whew!!! Seriously I am glad to hear that. I was getting a little nervous that the whole point of the thread was getting overlooked. Glad to know some people read it.

I read it o2bc, but I'd forgotten about the helmets comments in your first post, coz it had been a few days since I last posted in this thread.

I never saw fast food nation or whatever though so I can't say anything about him ripping it off.

I really don't remember him making any comments about 'retards' or anything though, donno why :/

Fast Food Nation was the book that more than likely gave him his ideas.

The retards remark was made over the weekend at a school in Philly.

My wife and I both enjoyed "SUper Size Me."
Yes- the point was to act like most of the over-weight, dumbass, no-excersize, can't cook-at-home, people who order french fries, a burger with 32 grams of fat (over the daily allowance), and then get a diet coke to feel better about it all.
America has a big problem- it's behinds. They're too big.

Was it hard science? Maybe not. You have to hand it to Spurlock for sticking to his guns. He made a great point about school lunches I thought.

His series "30 Days" has been entertaining too I think.

Hope we aren't all so hard on the next one of us that makes a movie or documentary that breaks big.

In case you missed my point, this thread wasn't started to be a thread about "Supersize Me" but the fact that he just called special ed kids at a high school "retards with helmets".

Frankly, I don't think Spurlock deserves jack ****. He proved nothing that hasn't already been discussed ad naseum elsewhere. Are we an obese nation? Yes, definitely. Are school lunches crap? Probably. Is eating nothing but junk food bad for you? No brainer. What did he prove? What did he illuminate for us? Really, nothing. His tv show was basically "S.M." with a slight variation.

Supersize was hardly thought provoking or broke new ground. It was a severely dumbed down version of the book "Fast Food Nation". As I have said before elsewhere in this thread, Spurlock brought up all the same questions others have asked before, but didn't even attempt to answer them... WHY are we an obsese nation...what's changed in America in the last 10 years...20 years to make us the unfit lazy nation we are today?

I don't think anyone is being hard on him for having a successful film, just for being a jackass. Success is great. More power to him for hoodwinking people into thinking he's an intellectual and making money off of it. Look around on the web and you'll find LOTS of inaccuracies and inconsistencies and things he overlooked in his documentary. Even in spite of these omissions and gloss overs, I kept hoping he'd choke on a Big Mac in the movie. I found him to be one of the most annoying wanna be's I have ever seen.

Now back to the point of why I am currently pissed at him.... you don't call special ed people "retards with helmets" and hide behind freedom of speech... he's a coward and an idiot for attacking people who do not have the capacity to stand up for themselves and say,"hey jackass-you're a retard". So I'm doing it for them. If anyone at a speech, rally, or just in public were to say that about my sister-in-law and her husband, both of whom are special needs people, I would kick their ass from one end of town to the other. It's unacceptable. The fact that I thought he was a jackass before just further proves me right about him.

You're tellin me to slow my flow!

Simmer down, sheeeeit.

Ok I'll stop, lol. I'm too white and skinny to keep up this devlish ruse!

EDIT:
ROMG 600 posts!

i believe they had a party for the skinny for his 19,000th big mac. And like anything, this film is about a lifestyle change. Unless you have something medically wrong ... eat good and excercise=healthy, eat like poo and be sedentary=not healthy. Spurlock was just smart enough to exploit this formula for mucho profit.

Spurlock Apologizes for School Speech

Documentary maker Morgan Spurlock has apologized to an American high school after stunning students and teachers with a foul-mouthed politically incorrect speech. During a lecture last week at Hatboro-Horsham High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the Super Size Me star joked about the intelligence of McDonald's employees and teachers smoking marijuana. The speech was cut short and another planned in the town later that day was cancelled. Spurlock has now posted an apology on his website: "It is never my intent to insult or demean anyone - and I understand how some of my remarks may have offended some in attendance and if you feel they did, then I am deeply sorry." Spurlock also tells a local newspaper he hadn't thought of the audience when planning his talk and could have chosen his words better. But he denies claims in an initial report that he had mocked "retarded kids in the back wearing helmets," insisting, "Having done work with special needs children in the past, something this hurtful would never come from my lips."
