at 2:20am after leaving the bar (worst time to be driving).

I don't have a license because of a DWI I got just a few months ago (my THIRD).

I was hammered.

I was basically screwed and going to jail for a very long time (this is, after all, Texas).

Untill...

the "backup" cop showed up, and it just happened to be a female. Well, the male cop got in his car to do whatever it is they do in there, and left me alone with the female officer. I gave her the sob story of my life (which was pretty much all true), and somehow she sympathized. She goes back to the other officer and they chat for awhile.

They come back and ask where I live; I drunkenly say I live right down the road (I could almost see my house). They ask if I could get someone to pick me up and drive my car; I drunkenly say YES. They ask if I'm going to stop drinking and driving - Yes.

I call a friend, and she comes to pick me up. I wake up in my bed this morning.

Probably not appropriate to post this here, but I woke up a couple hours ago, and just can't stop thinking how much that female officer saved my arse. I'd be in jail right now, and that'd be the least of my problems.

AS OF RIGHT NOW, I'M NEVER DRINKING AND DRIVING AGIAN.

And I recommend it to you too.

and that cop was smoking hot... I think I'll send a Christmas present to the precinct :love4:

and yes, I know, I could have killed someone. I probably should be in jail. I don't deserve to live. ect.

and... that's it.

You're an idiot.

Edit- No I am.

Same thing happened to me last night. Me and two friends were in a car. The driver was sober as a bee (she just got out of her hockey game)

We were going to the guys house (he was sitting in the passenger's seat, and he was drunk)

We're one block down from his house, and he wants to drive the rest. She lets him. We're on a straight away, and he's speeding like crazy, and there is a little snow bank, about a foot off the ground. He runs over it, and instead of us skiding out, sliding, and possibly dying, I think we got saved from an angel cause we just drove right through it. We yelled at him.

He's beein driving since 12 (snowmobiles, tractors, dirtbikes), and he was actually pretty good, but he just started to speed as a joke I guess.

I was in the back the whole time, it's not entirely my fault, but it is, FOR LETTING HIM DRIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

We're both idiots.

daamn you're lucky. I wont go into the how dumb it is to drink and drive, many others will I'm sure :) Just how about one up your resolution to never drink and drive and stop drinking all together. I never was good at just drinking a few, and pretty much stayed hammered for a few years in a row during college and after they asked me to not come back. Life is so much more pleasant when you dont wake up in your own vomit and actually know where you are :) Now to those that can drink and moderate their own intake more power to you - I'm not one of you...

Yeah dude, you should really be thankfull your not going to have to deal with those ramifications which you totally deserve.

A few years back my Uncle, actually right around this time of year, was leaving the bar got in his car hammered hit some black ice, rolled his car, was thrown from the car and had the car land on the back of his leg, he's got a rod in his leg now and his lucky he's not dead or at least paralyzed, he's also lucky his passenger who was also thrown from the car wasn't hurt or worst of all that he hurt or killed another driver or pedestrian.

Heres what a third offense in Texas for a DWI brings - (If you didn't already know this)

Third Offense:
 • up to a $10,000 fine
 • 2 to 10 years in penitentiary
 • driver’s license suspension: 180 days to 2 years
The minimum 2 years in a State Penitentiary. You ever watch lockup on MSNBC? I think watching that once would convince you not to drink and drive.

Kinda crazy how cops can use their judgement in cases like that eh? After a while, they should probably just stop and go by the book.

I have to agree with Como on this one though, you're an idiot. I think drinking and driving is worse than street racing, although both are pretty bad.

I don't really have much to say on the subject though other than you're really lucky,

Agreed, and I'm the same way. I'm now 28, and been drunk since about age 15 pretty much non stop. It controls my life. And I hate it... but only till the sun goes down and I'm off to the bar. Then I love it. And hate it.

Eh...

You are a lucky man. I cannot believe they let you off the hook after 3 DWIs. My friend (also in Texas) got a speeding ticket for going 34 in a 30.

There are apparently twice as many cops out on Christmas Eve and Christmas than any other day of the year (other than New Years).

edit - When I say lucky, I don't mean that you are lucky that you are not arrested; I mean you are lucky that you did not kill anybody. Those laws are there for a reason.

Yes. I didn't think there was ANY way to get out of that one. The second I saw the lights go on, I pretty much just gave up and said "fukk it". When he came to the window and asked for my license, I simply stated, "I don't have one, I just came from the bar, and I've had too much to drink."

rcbrown - your 4th dui? dude, wtf?!! jail time in texas for this felony is a MINIMUM of 2 years. this is serious, you need to get your life together.

Find something else to do. I got a night job and it pretty much saved my ass. Kinda hard to go drinking when you are at work every night. And holy crap can you save some money. Alcohol is expensive! I've also learned not to give a **** about much of anything (not necessarily the best thing in the world) and I just have no worries to drink away. I know you've had more than your share of troubles in life, but it could always be worse. I'd be viewing last night as your last free ride as I dont believe things like that happen twice, or ever if your me...

I know. And I'm not taking this lightly, believe me... time for a change, and believe it or not, I'm not one to say stuff like that every day. When I say it, I mean it.

let's hope so. because if not, you're gonna be locked in a cage and become bubba's girlfriend.

you got SUPER lucky. I hope you take your advice, but to be frank, it doesn't sound likely. If you were drinking and driving after getting a license suspended for drinking and driving, it doesn't sound much like you've learned your lesson.

every time i get pulled over by a female cop, i get reamed. They always think they need to be extra "hard" to makeup for being a female, so they come walking up to my car, tell me to shut up and write the ticket. it's always been the guy cops who've spared me.

A cab ride is A LOT cheaper than a DUI. It may not seem like it at the time, but hindsight is 20/20.
