Tomorrow. DVX100b
Cannot wait.
Going to be interesting in seeing how much I learn and how quickly.
Having experience with professional television cameras I haven't used the 100 b at
all but it should be fun to learn.

Going to test it big time Saturday at a benefit baseball tournament with over 80 teams playing. This should be a good learning experience.

learn it fast because theres a lot of vital controls to know that arent the same on other cameras. are you getting the DVX book by Barry Green? if you're not, it would be a really good idea to get it if you want to learn as much as possiblein 2 days.

I got a chance to work with it a little bit today, seems very nice.
Seems like the general setting are fine for outside. General generic shots.
Shooting inside obviously are different, but the more time you test the better.
Nothing like baptism under fire.

KSommer,

I would advise you to get into whatever scene file setting you intend to use and reduce the CHROMA LEVEL to -3 or -4 before you go out to shoot your tournament. The DVX100B has a bit of trouble with color smear on bright colors like red, yellow and orange. I use a CHROMA LEVEL setting of -3 and find that it virtually eliminates color smear.

Using CINELIKE MATRIX and one of the CINELIKE gammas because they also help tame the color smear beast. I like CINELIKE GAMMA (not CINELIKE D or CINELIKE V) because it has the least amount of video noise.

Have fun and good luck!

LOL Virtually every noob on this forum asks the "What's that click?" question. I didn't, but that was only because I read this forum for about six months before I bought my DVX100B and learned from all the posts on the subject!

(Psssst! KSommer, that clicking sound when the DVX is turned off is the image stabilizer. It's normal!)

yeah, you should get Berry's book if you want to learn more about the DVX.
(it even talks about the clicking sound)
sooner or later you'll always want to know more about it anyway

like I had problems editing footage from the DVX so
it might get confusing once you try to start chaptureing and editing 24p footage.
but Good luck and have fun

Thanks guys for the info.
There's a pre-season Baseball tournament , so i can get plenty of practice.
Nothing that has to be shot perfect, so at least I can get a feel for the different feature's.

So far I love the camera.
Going to be a lot of fun to shoot on.

the fun part for me is when I dub the video down to my apple computer because I don't have experience doing it,so that's going to be kind of scary. I would hate to fry something.

Any tips in that are would be of great help thanks, so much.
You guys are awesome.

Make sure your firewire cable is:

1. Plugged into the computer FIRST, then the camera
2. Plugged-in properly

I have a 9 pin to 4 pin cable firewire it says firewire 800/400 from apple store.

Is this correct cable? Or do I need 6 pin to 4 pin firewire?

Thanks.

the DVX is a four pin and most laptops are four pins

My dvx has a clicking noise! I think its broken.

MyMac book pro has an 800 firewire port so Barry say's the 9-pin to 4 pin firewire I have will work.

Well my shoot went pretty well yesterday for the first time shooting sports on the DVX.
Some things to learn but nothing to troubling.

Paladin your advice on what to shoot with for the colors worked real well.
The general shooting scenes on this camera, pre set stuff seems to work pretty well also.

Very impressive camera.
