I found the hidden 24p button on the FS700. Camera Test with no slow motion.

Nothing fancy, just wanted to see the 24p on the FS700 using a variety of rigs, handheld and different lighting concitions. There are two 60fps shots of the dog in the middle, otherwise it's all 24p. I used my wife Susan and my dog as the subjects. I shot this with my friend Hung Tran.

Shot using Metabones Mark I and an assortment of Canon, Zeiss and Tokina lenses. Cinegamma 1 + Cinema color mode was used.

Overall I'm very happy with this camera. My only big complaint is some crucial buttons on the side are way too easy to hit, like the Auto ISO, Shutter Speed and Iris buttons. The first few shots on the red bed spread were botched because I accidentally hit the Shutter Speed button which increased it too high. But I will get used to it over time. Now I mostly just lock off the settings to avoid any accidents. Also, I do wish there was an internal microphone. But yeah, very NICE camera overall, especially for the price.

That's really nice. Very filmic. Not "video-ish" at all.

Reminds me a lot of some of the BMC footage I've been seeing.

Nice job.

Thanks Steve. I think the "Video-ish" look mainly comes up if you use the stock, factory profile which is very contrasty and saturated + the kit lens. I think that since this camera is so clean to where it can be sterile, so the iris needs to be opened up a bit. When it's stop down too much, it becomes soap opera city. I also think the Color Mode > Cinema setting within the Cinegammas really gives it a noticeably different look. It makes it look more subdued and muted, more like a vintage film stock.

There we go, regular 24p footage properly graded. Crazy how long it took someone to upload just a simple but effective test like this. Great job, looks very cinematic indeed.

Wow, this might have just sold me on this camera. Looks amazing! Now looking down the back of the sofa for another few thousand pounds...

Thanks guys. Like I said, I honestly think it's VERY EASY to get a cinematic look out of this camera as long as you avoid the factory presets and shoot a bit more on the wide open side. For me, I like to do that anyways because I like a softer look. I also think that a bit wider open helps with the motion / jutter that people have pegged on Sony. I seem to notice the Jutter more on deep focus / stopped down type shots, probably because the Sony image is so clean and CRISP that it kind of gives the perception of "Freezing" the motion more. With a little softness on the image, it takes away that crispness IMO and makes the motion smoother.

I turned the detail down to -4 as well

But I would have to do more motion tests to verify my theories

I think you're probably right.

Hey, can you give us a sense of much you graded the footage, and how much is the baked-in look of your settings?

Thanks!

It wasn't heavily graded. a little bit on the levels and a few mild color tweaks. Not a lot of heavy grading, mostly just finessing and matching the color on some shots on the sunset stuff since the light was changing so fast.

I am a compulsive grader though, because my main job is I direct, design and animate Motion Graphics / VFX based spots, so I grade a ton of footage and have done an insane amount of color correcting over the years, so it's just ingrained in my brain. I almost feel like I have to grade every shot. LOL.

Maybe later I'll upload the un-graded version
