What??

That makes absolutely no sense at all. You should always manually white balance any time there is a shift in light/location.

The problem with that screengrab is just plain out of focus.

there is a problem with vertical banding while using the manual white balance. it doesn't happen when using the presets, just manual... I don't know why it happens, but it is there.

i have a question. how do you manually set the white balance lol, ive been trying to figure that out lol. Also, i had the same problem Mike. Did you compress it or is it uncompressed footage that you took a screen grab??

I have been shooting with the DVX for over 2 years, and I always manually white balance and I have never seen results like that. If you get vertical banding then that is not normal.

Oh no, it's the dreaded vertical bands! I can tell this shot was done with manual white balance. Look at the wall, there are these faint vertical stripes. The dangers of manual white balancing.
I think those vertical lines are part of the wallpaper.

Well i just watched the video. Theres actually many small tiles that the wallpaper is made up of. Heres 2 more pictures. The second one shows horitontal lines also. Magid, the grab was straight off my timeline after i captured the footage. i guess that would make it uncompressed??

Haha, that is hilarious, it is the wallpaper. Looks exactaly like the vertical band problem.

Look, there is a vertical band problem with manual white balancing on all Panasonic cameras that I have used, consumer and prosumer. It's generally not noticable when you have your exposure dead on when white balancing, but can show up in a lot of circumstances, and when color correcting. I have posted examples pics in the past. Everytime I have used manual white balancing, with a number of Panasonic cameras, I have had the exact same issue.
