I did something stupid. PLease help with a workaround

I shot a video in a foreign country and made a stupid mistake on my settings. I guess that I shot it at a lower bit rate at 24p and when I tried to download the files, I could only find the "private" subfolder. When I double click on it, then QuickTime opens up and I see thumbnails. I tried to use ClipWrap to reformat the files but it strips the audio from the file. Any ideas or is there another conversion software/plugin that I could use to get these files in a format that is usable? Thanks for any helpful advice. I am using a Mac.

Double click on that "Private" folder, then double click on the "AVCHD" subfolder. Follow that by double clicking on the "BDMV" subfolder, then on the "STREAM" subfolder. The *.MTS files are your video clips.

I don't use Mac's, I edit on PC's and am able to drop those MTS files directly on my timeline and begin editing. I don't know what "hoops" the Mac makes you jump through.

Macs running the new OSX won't let you access the .MTS files inside the PRIVATE folder without some trickery:

Right-Click the PRIVATE folder and select Show Contents.
Right-Click the AVCHD folder and select Show Contents.
Right-Click the BDMV folder and select Show Contents.
Left-Click on the STREAM folder and you should see all the .MTS files. These are your video files.

Now check out this forum thread about how to transcode the .MTS files into .MOV files using a mac.

Good luck.

As long as the folder structure is intact, shouldn't you just be able to import the clips to your NLE program? I don't shoot on GH, but the FS700 works that way with FCP and the file structure is similar.

Hey, it has been a long day and I have not yet had a chance to try this but THANKS so much! Your counsel sounds like a clear and practical workaround. Thanks!

I contacted tech support at ClipWrap about the audio not being converted with the video files. They, Divergent Media, responded immediately and sent me a link to drag the whole folder over to ClipWrap and it worked beautifully! I had been trying to drag the files over individually. I am very thankful for their responsiveness and for such a wonderful product!!
