Dear benn,

You have received a warning at DVXuser.com -- The online community for filmmaking.

Reason:
-------
Violates 8th P

Violates 8th P:

8. No Pi$$ing In The Pool
Trolling, Baiting, Complaining and beating dead horses is like urinating in the pool -- it may make you feel good, but it kind of ruins it for everyone else. This includes complaints about things which happen on other message boards/websites -- it has nothing to do with DVXuser and we have no reason to air it here.

I mainly cant stand this stuttering pans, and all that only because I have to work with completely overhauled standards from the very old beginnings of cinema making.
24/25p doesnt fit anymore in the digital world. Its over and we could do it much better. I would like to decide if I can use 50/60p or even higher. I would like to make smooth pans and movements. Besides that - When I worked with an old Arri 16mmm, the motion blur was at 24 more elegant and not chopped up as the GH2 shows.
I cant see any advantage of 24/25p except that smaller bitrates can be better processed with slow SD cards.
When will the industry stop this nightmare?
:love4:

Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

All the best,
DVXuser.com -- The online community for filmmaking

They delete a thread with 100 replies and very interesting comments because of "pissing in the pool"? I used the word "nightmare" and "industry" . Isnt it harmless? That shall be "Trolling"??
Something is going wrong here. Sorry.
Benn

I think it's because your post was another of those dozens of other threads that keep bringing this up for no reason. Some of us actually like 24p, some don't. There is no reason to continue trying to convince anyone otherwise, or to complain really. People like what they like for their own reasons.

I think that's the point of the warnings, that since you(and others) are simply complaining to be complaining and not really actually forming cogent arguments for your purpose, that you must be trolling.

Benn,

Our moderators strive to keep the forum a friendly, collaborative place. We are a private site and will enforce our published guidelines at our sole discretion. If you have an issue with the way we're moderating, please feel free to PM the moderator in question. Thank you for your ongoing contributions.

I dont think that the replies has been the usual replies. I am respecting what people likes. The discussion was much more about standards and changing of standards - that was my request. It was not my request to destroy the world of 24p, but I would like to point out, that new standards are overdue. That cannot be trolling.

It's not what you were talking about, it's HOW you said it.

It only takes a few drops of poison to ruin an entire well.

We don't like complaining here. We don't like bitching here. If you can make your point eloquently and respectfully, then by all means, do that.

If someone can't make their point eloquently and respectfully, then they don't belong here.

Sorry, I dont feel guilty, when I compare my way HOW I said that, OK, probably its a bit exaggerated, but I would like to make my point clear. I think with more than 2000 accesses other people found this issue very interesting as well.
I am disappointed about this measure and think its overdone.
But I will look inside me just for the sake of peace. Maybe I overlooked something

If you want to post a thread that says "Guys, I don't like the 24p look, why don't we shoot in 60p instead? It looks much more fluid" -- then hey, that thread would be fine and can spark a healthy discussion. But if the tone of a thread is primarily negative and complaining, it's likely to get pruned, axed, or locked.

There's a right way and a wrong way to say things and conduct oneself in a private forum. We always say -- treat this place as if you were in someone's living room. This isn't a locker room, it's not a place for crass lewd behavior, and it's not a place for tedious tiresome complaining either. If someone was in your house and was constantly complaining and being constantly negative, you'd probably ask him to leave, wouldn't you?

All we ask is that people conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner, and to avoid unnecessary complaining and negativity. Simple etiquette and polite rules of behavior that foster healthy discussion and help avoid flame wars and negativity.

i personally didn't find Benn so offensive.
i think Benn respect you all and at least he's aware of the situation now..

problem is
,
with or without Benn, i think this certain thread turned out to be very very valuable to me, and there's a lot of compressed info there and new observations and opinions i want and need to read again !!
i remember the other '24P' threads and NONE of them have the info i found here.
it's a big waste of very valuable stuff.

so with respect to all moderators, please put it back somewhere, even as locked.

thanks :)

OK, I come closer, most likely I was very angry about the fact, that I cant get a really smooth pan with the GH2 and 24p (and it seems thats not only my problem). But I never would offend someone. I should cool down before starting a thread.
Benn :-)

Frankly the title of the thread drove me away from reading it. Start slowly with moderation. You will get a chance to say everything. This forum is full of good people.

I am much more offended by the warning than the original post. It was an interesting thread, and I think Benn was respectful and his complaint was relevant to film standards and the film industry, not aimed at a person or company or organisation, and in my opinion, reasonable. It is a shame DVXUser moderators choose sometimes to be so heavy handed. I think it creates a worse vibe on the forum than such posts.

Yes, but the problem in question is NOT caused by 24p itself. There is another thread that discusses the fact that the GH2 seems to have a lack of motion blur in 24p mode with certain shutter speeds that makes it seem much more stutter-y than other cameras look. Please search and do research before you complain, in this case you would have found that it's not 24P's fault, it's panasonic's interpretation of 24p that is at fault and there would have been no need for your thread at all.

I haven't read the thread in question, but based on benns post alone I wonder why he got a warning and the thread ended up being deleted while many much more inflammatory and useless posts/threads get no punitive treatment. In the past I have to admit I've felt that dvxuser's moderation seems to be a bit arbitrary - perhaps based more on what mood the mods are in today than objective characteristics a post/user has.

That said, I really shouldn't even have an opinion on this since I never read the thread in question.

Yes, but the problem in question is NOT caused by 24p itself.
Honestly that doesn't matter. If you give warnings every time someone misunderstands a problem you might as well ban 3/4's of dvxuser.

Oops that was nice tread with a lot of stuffs I don't know! Very genus people make comment omg! Like dvbrother! I hope dvx won't be like zacuto! Lol.

Same here. I'm glad the dvxuser team takes the initiative to make this an easier forum on the nerves. It seems like every time a new camera is released, new people show up who don't take the time to read the rules, don't bother to forge relationships with the existing community, don't bother to use the 'search' function before starting a thread exactly like a million others, and who are plain out rude and insulting to long time posters or other 'newbies'. Not saying this is you, Benn, but this forum is in constant need of moderation in order to maintain its professionalism and not repel its users.

If someone was complaining in my house I won't ask them to leave because then I have no wife! Lol.

For film buffs, bemoaning 24p as a bygone standard is definitely in the "after dinner conversation" league. I personally like 24p but it interests me that others don't, and I'm definitely interested in hearing why.

Have to say there were many interesting posts in that thread.

If someone doesn't like a thread in my opinion they should just stop reading it.
