i need a slider at least 4 ft to use for heavy duty cameras like red, alexa, arricam....

more and less 1000 usd ....

can be used too, if is smooth and quiet !!!

I've got a IGUS slider solution I'm selling:

You probably wouldn't want those velbon tripods, as they're too flimsy for the kind of weight you're pushing. I even have a 4 foot Igus slider I'd consider throwing in if you're interested. I'll be honest, the IGUS solution WORKS and is hands down the cheapest out there... but it takes a bit of adjustments to get it the way you want it. Silicon spray on the tracks, allen wrench handy for bearing adjustments, a bungee cord for the pulls, and keeping that center of gravity as LOW as possible. I have a Bogen 501 head that mounts directly to the sled and is pretty low profile I'd be willing to include... I think it could handle the weight of one of your cameras but I'm not sure how well it would work for panning & tilting while sliding with a heavy camera.

Anyways, might not be what you're looking for but thought I'd throw it out there. I've got a bunch of IGUS stuff and I find that I personally use the shorter stuff the most but that's because most of what I'm doing is documentary and I don't have time to set up anything big.

thanks for your post

i'm afraid igus slider is not enough strong for red or alexa cameras with 150mm ball for head like oconnor.

but...thank you anyway....still waiting !!!

i think something like cineslider from kessler it is strong enough....but the price is killing me....they asking 650 usd for delivery....2200 usd....damn

Well, I've put around 20lbs on it with an EX1/Letus/Lens/Rails setup and it worked fine but that wasn't with a ball head... a ball head gets you up too high and then the bearings don't work well. Ya, good luck. I think Digital Juice has a pretty good dolly that may work with heavier loads

Just letting you know, your thread title is asking for a 4-5 inch slider...

Also, I don't think there's a non-DIY, sub-1k, 4-5', slider that can withstand the kind of weight you're talking about and is "smooth and quiet" to boot.

If you find one, let me know.

i think just find it !!! that one from digital juice looks great its an 6 ft model and suport heavy duty camera and it cost 700 usd ....well plus shipping , for me will cost 500 usd extra....romania is on another planet i think !!! :) they have a chat and someone answer to all my questions...about weight, sound....also they have an 4ft model for 400 usd .

I got the biggest Igus rail they carry and believe my, it´s rock solid.
Got a 24 pound Vinten20 head, and a 29 pound full blown rig on top of it - no problem, as long as you can mount the slider good enough.
