And a few others cameras. I didn't see any other posts mentioning a drop, but I hope its good news for some folk. I am not an industry insider, but it sure makes me wonder. For instance the AG-AF100 would be around $3495 with the mail in rebate I believe. I am not sure if its a temporary price drop or what either.

Do you think maybe its because they see that they don't have a Large Sensor/High resolution Camera to compete with the F3's, FS100's, FS700's, 1DC's, C300's, etc, So they are doing what ever they can to sell cameras?

Or is it just a unrelated sale?

Wow, anybody thinking of selling their AF100 who wants to upgrade you better get rid of it quick before you can't get much. $4000 for the AF100 though still sounds like a steal to me for what they give you. I hope the Sony products go down as well, like the FS100 which is now $1000 more then the AF100.

BH is offering $4000 when you add to cart AND you get a $500 mail in rebate. That is very reasonable! Some new camera ( :D ) must have come out an NAB that is sucking the money out of the $4000 range videographer / filmmaker market. Competition is always a good thing for the consumer.

That is starting to sound darn reasonable. Though it makes me wonder if there is something of a recessionary pressure weighing down on all electronics, including prosumer cameras. Makes me wonder if more aggressive price cutting is still to come.

By the time I re-visit this thread in a few months it will be about how much money Panasonic's new camera proposal on Kickstarter is raising.

I'm not an expert, but I think the general business philosophy is you can compete in three areas, quality of the product, service, and price.

if you can't beat the competition in quality or service, you cut the price.

I just realized I'll keep my AF101 for three years before selling it. I'll make more money by keeping it than selling it.

100% smart business decision...... In three years the money made, and saved will garner you capital to get your next system when that time comes.
The AF100 is a good camera.
