I Am Legend

why is he hitting golf balls off the Intrepid when the Chelsea piers driving range is like 15 blocks down? Totally not believable. They'd better explain that in the film...

because he can... why do it somewhere you could have before the incident? i'd probably be doing it too

wow..i can't believe any studio would continuously butcher posters with crappy designs like those..maybe once but you can clearly see the resemblance in all of those

I am actually reading the GN while I'm on vacation now and enjoying it... which makes seeing this trailer completely ruin any hope that I have for this series...

I dislike Will Smith and can't stand most of his work or the films he is in, but I will be seeing this in order to check out the 6 or 7 minute Batman 'featurette' which I think is about the origins of the Joker.

i actually look forward to this movie.. omega man was great and any movie with a sort of post apocalyptic theme is something to look forward to. i think Steve Buscemi would have rocked in this movie!

Here's my take on it.

I don't care for the source material, especially since I've never read the book or seen the previous movies before. Besides, most movies take several liberties when adapting a book, perhaps sometimes too much. So I wouldn't think of this as an adaptation anyways, just a movie in it's own right. (probably took the name of the original source material to help boost the viewing audience anyways)

Now with that said, looking at Will Smith, well I feel that Will has grown considerably from the old re-runs of fresh prince of bell air. Yes, he was terrible in I Robot and I kept thinking (this movie is amazing... if it weren't will smith). But since I Robot he's gone to do Pursuit of Happyness. He had a level of dedication to his acting that really shined through. After seeing these trailers, I'm actually considering it because of Will Smith. Although the trailers don't show much, it really doesn't seem like the I Robot Will Smith. When he's scared in this trailer, I'm scared for him.

However, the director and writers don't seem too credible. It should be a very visual movie because of the director, but the story will probably be very lacking.

The trailers have me excited though. So I'm caught in between.

I am pretty sure we will be getting the "Bad Boys" Will Smith in this movie. From the trailer it looked like he had his tough guy face and gangster limp going.

As a fan of the novel and The Last Man on Earth (Vincent Price) I was happy to hear about this film coming out, but it is rather obvious what kind of film we will be getting with Will Smith as the lead actor. I suggest checking out The Last Man on Earth before seeing the new film.

However there are other versions as well. The Omega Man starring Heston was pretty awful compared to Price's version.

There is also I Am Omega, which came went straight to video this year. I haven't seen it yet, so I can't comment.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I will mostly be going to get a look at the short about the Joker from the nest Batman movie.

I actually like Will Smith a lot; to me he's very charismatic. I thought he was just about all that made I, Robot watchable...

There's an ADG screening this week. I hope they run the Joker short, there...

I missed Vincent Price's version and never read the book, therefore I have no preconceptions. It looks interesting, and I'll definately be in line when it comes out on DVD. Will Smith? I can take him or leave him. As an actor, I think he does the best he can with what he has. I blame the studios, the directors, and the writers- in that order.

Now, I have seen Omega Man, many times. That is about cheesey, and I can't believe you folks are gushing over it. It's not an awful movie, but by no means great.

I, Robot is another one I wasn't familliar with before hand. It was an ok movie, a little goofy at points, like how Shia Labouf pops up. "Quit cursing and go home!"... WTF? I did laugh at "She was shooting with her eyes closed!" What creeped me out the most about this flick, was the uncanny resemblence to iMacs... I never did trust Apple.

I am Legend

There was a Mid night sneak peek last night, anyone go?

How was the movie, I can't wait to see it.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS ********************************

I saw it tonight. I did not know it wasn't going to be a vampire film.

It had it's moments- like escaping the darkness and thrill of being the only one alive.... but the bad ending just leaves you feeling unsatisfied.....

Definitely had some good storytelling moments though....

This movie was a total missed opportunity. You could fly a helicopter through the holes in it. I was hoping for more, but I was sorely disappointed. It had some good visuals but the really did nothing with them. I personally prefer The Omega Man. There were so many times the film makers could have actually done something good with this and missed it.

I'd give it about a 5 out of 10 for entertainment value, as long as you don't mind the plot problems.

I thought it was good, but it didn't really leave me with a "wow" factor. At first, the camera work annoyed me, the flashbacks were sometimes repetitive and it progressed a little slow for my liking.

It had much more potential to be what it was, but I'm glad that it wasn't drawn out - they just could have packed SO much more into it.
