I Am Legend

Lame poster released today, with Will Smith looking like some college kid on his way to a mid-term. I didn't care for Constantine, I found it slick but silly, and Will Smith ruined I,Robot for me, so I don't have much hopes for this film.

I read about this a year or two ago. I wasn't excited about it then either, since I'm a fan of Richard Matheson's novel and the Vincent Price version of the film "The Last Man On Earth" and not a fan of Constantine and I, Robot. That poster is just ridiculous. I think you hit the nail on the head about Neville looking like a college student.

Hmm. If we get the Will Smith from The Pursuit of Happyness and not the one from Bad Boys and I,Robot, the movie might have a chance.

When the trailer already showcases its complete and utter departure from anything resembling the source material . . .

I read the book, and I don't really think it's adaptable without embellishing as it's basically a long short story. But when I saw the opening scenes I also thought "what the hell is this?". Maybe they're just flashbacks to the pre catastrophe New York and we won't see much of that. After the raping of I, Robot though I guess I shouldn't hold my breath though.

I just watched the ORIGINAL Flight of the Phoenix with James Stewert and it makes me hate that Quaid remake all the more.

Will Smith...hmmm...I'll try to keep an open mind on this one. I loved the book but this trailer's got me a little worried.

Christian Bale would've been awesome as Neville.

Good trailer. I don't know the source material so I'm just responding to what I saw. Looks interesting.

I haven't read either "I Robot" or "I am Legend" so I don't know anything about the source material, but I really enjoyed "I Robot" the film, and from the looks of the trailer I suspect I'm going to enjoy this one as well...

That's a horrible poster.

The Vincent Price version was closest to the book-though they gummed up the ending.

The Heston version was way off-- in an interview he regretted they didnt follow the book more closely.

Harrison Ford was considered at one time--he would have been a really good everyman choice.

If they had to go black, I would have preferred Denzel Washington. Smith just seems too young and glamorous.

But can Will Smith really be credible as a one-man army, like Charlton Heston in "The Omega Man"? See it? It's a beaut.
