Hey DVX Users -- I need your help...please!

I found out last Friday that I am a semi-finalist in the MTV Best Film on Campus competition, with my short film "Shades." Now I need your help! The semi-finalist films will be judged by three groups: Hollywood directors Joel Schumacher, Gus Van Sant, Allison Anders; MTV Staff; and then finally, the general public! The winner receives 2 tickets to the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, an internship with MTV Films, and pitch meetings with MTV Films & Creative Artists Agency.

Online voting begins on Monday, November 1st at http://www.mtvu.com/contests/best_film/. Please visit it and vote (hopefully for "Shades"!)

Actually -- for all of you Mac users, visit http://www.blueboxlimited.com/multimedia/shades.mov.  The file is about 35MB.  Let me know if you have any problems, as I am not too knowledgable about Quicktime.

I have no idea why MTV didn't account for those with Macs, but here you go!  Thanks for your vote & support.

I am very new to this site and to the dv world.

I will be getting my DVX100 in a couple of days then let the fun begin. No experience just fooled around on a gs200 but now it's time to get serious.

I voted for someone else. I think everyone should stop kissing arse. If you tell people their stuff is good, they will think that it is good even though it stinks. And they will keep making retard films. Her Summer blew.

Dude, what's your problem. Is it wrong for the president of the USA to say "vote for me"? Besides, Scott never said to "vote for him", he said to vote, and hopefully do it for their film. There is nothing wrong with that. If your so naieve that you can be swayed one way or another just by someone saying to vote for their film, then you have bigger problems. This forum really isn't here for personal attacks, and if your not even brave enough to log on then your post really has no merrit at all. Obviously someone like yourself, Mr. "macaroni" has no business in the film making world if you can seriously say "and they will keep making retarded films." So you feel that if no one votes for them they will stop their film making alltogether. Your opinion really has no place in these forums as it is not so much an opinion but an uneducated attack. If you don't like Scotts films, lets see some of your own masterpieces that must undoubtably rock any film that has ever been made to be making statements like you did.

If the majority of you thought that "shades" was good, then you stink too. The problem isn't that the criticism isn't constuctive, it is that there is no criticism. Just arse kissing. Or maybe most of you are just retarded and don't know what sucks and what doesn't. But, don't get me wrong, the cinematography isn't the worst that is out there. But Bluebox's stories are.

scharky- who said my comments were an "uneducated attack".. what? That I haven't seen good enough work to know when someone is a retard and makes crappy movies? and I wasn't swayed because Scott said "vote for me". He sucks and I have seen his films. They suck.

zach- I have nothing to show. I don't have a camera.

The reason why no other locals are saying anything is because they wont' until they get something made. Oh, but they hate you too and we all sit around complaining and talking **** about how much you suck and that you don't deserve the credit. It is on our minds constantly and we can't get over it. WE HATE YOU. We go to all of your premieres then go to Steak and Shake after to ***** and moan. I am better than you and I don't give a donkeys if anyone criticizes me for not having anything to show. Im going to tell you that you suck. You suck and you should take me seriously because you really do suck. you suck bad. no one here will tell you because they want to finger your hole. It is one big circle jerk around here. Gus Van Sant sucks you nub. When are you going to realize that you cant write. You cant shoot. All you think about is your SHOT. Your shot sucks. And that the only reason why you are out there, getting cred is because all the other sloppy filmers are worse than you. You are still the bottom of the trash can. I just wish that i could pee pee in your mouth. Please hug me... What is your favorite movie? If you give me an answer that doesn't suck I will take it all back.

...seriously, go grab a camera and come back when youve got something to show, because words are meaningless. its unfortunate that your not mature enough to conduct yourself in a freindly or at least professional manner.
whether or not you like someones work shouldnt dictacte how you conduct yourself. if you dont like his work than you should offer freindly and helpful advice as to how you think he could improove it instead of flippantly ranting from a place of jealousy, and bitterness. apparently you are an excellent filmmaker who just hasnt begun to make a film yet, so instead of being so conterproductive here.. i would suggest that you spend your time more productively, and work on your own superlative masterpiece.
