I am a p.c

So Microsoft started a marketing campaign which seems to be in direct competition with the Im a mac ads. They have a contest in which they are giving away a pc a week every week to the person with the best "I am a p.c" line.

Which ironically enough, seems to give the mac ad about windows spending a huge amount of money on advertising as opposed to fixing vista and or making 7 the best they can.

Here was my entry...I think I have a good chance.

I am a P.C that supports sweat shops all over the world, run sub par operating systems at a cost sometimes more then the pc it's running on, I have something called the blue screen of death and the immune system of someone with full blown aids. And what's the big deal with 64bit?

To be fair, I am currently running xp. I was rocking the linux but the NLE are still very sub par.

...controversy

Im a PC thats switching to mac.

Havnt used a PC for years, never used vista at all, and im proud of it.

Go mac :-D

I've got a PC and I'm typing on a macbook right now... and as far as problems go, there's no comparison... I have virtually zero problems with my macbook. It's about as problem free as a toaster...

Still... since my PC roots go so deep... I've never fully made the transition from PC to mac... but I'm thinking about taking some classes at the community college to get better on my mac... because years ago we were told that the day was coming where computers would be as straight forward as household appliances (which is why I compare my macbook to a toaster)... meanwhile my PC is riddled with problems... all the time. I'm constantly patching my windows and various PC applications, and new problems arise all the time... it's simply part of owning a PC.

If you wanted to do a great spoof of that ad I would dub in the "I'm a PC..." etc. etc. over an old Evil Knievel video... or just keep having different people saying "I'm a PC" and then cut to car crashes... plane crashes... bike crashes... etc.

Now THAT'S a million dollar idea right there.

I am a PC, I use it at work,

I use it at home,

I use it when playing,

And I code in my dream (no seriously);

So forget about the PC/Mac thing because 'To me everything is just machine code'

Anhar

P.S am I the only person who never seems to get these PC "problems", I can't remember the last time I had a problem on my PC's?

It's really funny you should mention a toaster this morning, Matt, because I woke up today to the sound of the smoke alarms going off because our toaster broke and didn't click off when it was supposed to, so it just burnt the **** out of that piece of bread. :)

So I guess that leaves me with this: if a Mac is as problem free as a toaster, I'm sticking with my PCs. I'm with Anhar on this one. (I also don't want to take the time to learn a new system when there is nothing wrong with the one I use now).

Same here. Windows is for people more technologically inclined, obviously some people can't handle it and blame the O.S. for problems. They're probably better off switching to OSX anyway, can't break anything in a padded room!

What's the point of this post?

If you don't want to use Windows then don't.

Yeah. People have started things like this before and it always ends up with a big Mac vs. PC battle unless Mikko gets in first. So, in short, don't expect this to remain unlocked for too much longer (civil or not). It is a pointless argument, anyway, people will use what they feel comfortable with. You're not changing my mind and I'm not changing yours and that's that.

The only funny thing to me is how mad it makes people... who cares really. I have both... but Anhar... your simple explanation for substituting "force quit" is a little more complex. 100% of mac users know how easy it is to use force quit... and 99.999% of PC users never heard of what you just typed.

Since when is "user-friendly" a bad thing?

Use what you want... I sure don't care... but to say that PC's are typically trouble free is crazy. I know tons of people have no problems... but I also know tons who are tortured by their PCs... so the analysis of a computer tech is hardly mainstream.

Same here. 4 PC's and not a one with a problem. Nothing against Mac either though, I'm just dont have much reason to learn or buy a new system right now. And I find those silver cases a tad ugly. I could get over that though :)

Not totally sure why they couldn't be doing both. They do have a lot of money; having 95% of the market tends to see to that.

At least they're talking about their own product, rather than just taking cheap shots at the other guy.

This is true for me.

And Dave is right; this is pointless and nothing but fanboy banter. USe a MAC or a PC; they do the same things.

I say we lock this now, because frankly, it is t i r e d.
