Ok it happened. My assistant formatted the P2 card before dumping it. Luckely it were two interviews we could do again but....
We were in a bit of a hurry.
What I want to say is, when you or your assistant are constantly offloading cards and are very busy doing things, stay sharp otherwise you make mistakes like formattin before offloading.

that sucks man, i've almost done that - there should be some super secret fail safe, like an internal 4gb drive in the next HVX200a that prevents things like this happening, in case they do - maybe more submenus..?

Another warning to add to yours. I was offloading my 2 cards via HVX firewire to FCP, and I f**d up bad. This is the first and last time I do this. I transferred the 1st card. Then I transferred the same card again, instead of the 2nd card! Then I wiped the cards and went for more shooting. The next night when I was transferring everything over to my workstation Mac, I discovered all the duplicate clips I had, and wondered where the hell the other clips were. Then it dawned on me what happened.

I'll never do this stupid ass mistake again! :)

Few things here guys..

First, if your using 2 cards, mark them with different colored tape so you know they are different. Same goes with 2 cameras, mark the cards colors that match the cameras with a card 1 and a card 2.

2nd, if your working with a PA that doesnt know what time of day it is, try and rent a P2 Store for them to use instead of doing the laptop thing.. its alot easier for them to understand.

Yeah, we're trying out a few different ways to sequence them. First thing we tried is we marked our cards with red, white, and blue tape -- at a glance you know which card should come next in the sequence. Works well so far.

U.S. colors to the rescue!

*hums Team America theme*

A technology is only as good as the person using it. Maybe that's why I never liked P2 much - my short term memory is TERRIBLE. I could see myself doing exactly what you did.

You'd think these things would include an archive bit on the files or something, somehow that gave you something approaching the write lockout tab on tape.
