MUSIC VIDEO: Hyper real colours/nudity in this nsfw music video (feedback welcome)

Don't try to sell this by telling everyone it has nudity in it, it makes it seems like you don't have confidence in what you did and have to resort to cheap tricks to get views.

i love the nudity! i dont get why you didnt stay with it and cut to real life footage of people doing boring stuff

it's a "selling point" as much as it's ethical to tell people it's "NSFW", some are offended by nudity or don't want to be subjected to it. so it's kinda a creators responsibility to have a disclaimer. thanks for the feedback all.

A combination of textures and glitch art coupled with supers to achieve the look along with Magic Bullet grading...happy to hear thoughts and/or field questions. Enjoy!

Unfortunately the clip quickly descended into somewhat repetative, and mostly boring, 'cheap' effects (and not even 'enhanced' with nudity...).

I'm talking about the words with wyrd patterns etc. Even the nude cutouts didn't do much for me, especially with the wyrd patterns...

Now, if you've ever seen "The Prisoner"(UK TV 1967-68) intro, with the wyrd ball at about 2:28, you'll see what I mean...

yes wyrd patterns are very fryky. i made the collage of sorts from bits and pieces i had lying around from other shoots. so comments make sense except the obscure reference to a word ball. cryzy.

I was thinking about your video, and I think I realized what I find most interesting but perhaps difficult about the piece. Being someone that grew up in the 90's, I was of course there in the hayday of computer glitching. That glitch look is something that is ingrained in my mind as a BAD thing, because when your computer started doing that it meant it was messing up. I think what this does is it puts this type of glitching in the realm of things that I just can't find aesthetically appealing. It looks muddled and ugly to my eyes, perhaps because of what it stands for to me. Then you mix in incredibly beautiful (and naked) women with this, and it's a confusing thing to look at. The women are gorgeous, but the glitching is ugly, so overall I don't know what to think about the image.

You are wrong about mentioning the nudity part. He did the right thing by warning us. You are basically right about this post though, for the most part. When it is a full frame image with a glitch effect...that is unappealing. BUT, I don't mind the parts where the words are filled in with glitchy images or the parts where it is a Silhouette or cutout filled in with glitchy effects. Thos parts actually work well for me. As long as it looks like an intentional effect and not like youtube is glitching. JMHO.

The thing I love about glitch is it's essentially 'digital recycling' - taking something old, making it new. It's avant garde, sure. And because it's essentially corruption in it's simplest form, it seems like the possibilities are limitless. If you have a strong dislike toward it because of nostalgic memories, then that's understandable. But, nostalgia is one of those memories that are equally happy & said simultaneously, so you're likely to feel conflicted. I think it's becoming more popular and the creative possibilities are only just being discovered.

People take footage off VHS & glitch it, it takes a dead format and reinterprets it, makes it relevant again. It also brings a level of interactivity and a artistic interpretation that you don't get with a regular one off still image, like the one i made below; a still from my feature film and I saved it at various levels of 'glitch'. To me, it's a cool and interesting artwork, much more so then a still image sitting on it's own. But that's just me.

It's more that the strong dislike due to living in a pre-Cable age, and living in over the air fringe areas... heck about 1/2 mile more, and TV would not have been a option at all... Or working frantically late at night with school U-matics and 3/4 inch tape, trying to get rainbows out of 'edits'... or playing VHS rentals that someone had apparently tossed in the toilet then returned it... etc...

It's more of 'what's the point'... If the effect is for some narrative 'reason'... sure... but as a end point in and of itself... I typically have a strong reaction on the order of 'that's a pretty cheap shot effect'... and move on.

i find that really interesting, glitch is probably the new equivalent to the greenscreen effect. where people take a subject/person which by itself is pretty ordinary and boring and key in a photo or some visual for the background. at the time it was first done it was interesting and now it's lost it's charm unless it's a hugely immersive world like 300 or The Hobbit. you're probably not into the craze of high VFX movies like Life of Pi, either?
