Hydra

I've been looking over posts from the near past talking about the Hydra adaptation technology for the HVX200. I guess it came and went pretty quickly.
Does any system exist that does the same? The gig ethernet connection sounds ideal. Was this system patented? What stops someone else from using the same approach?

I understand the principle was to take video raw right off the ccd block and get it to a pc via a gigabit ethernet and process and record the signal there. The signal would use all of the avail ccd sensor and end up with a very high quality result.
It was used with the dvx to great advantage from what I read. I guess the guy that developed it saw the light and became an employee of the company that may or may not have bought the technology.
