HVX202EN inconsistent frame rate - audio sync drift

Shooting 720P at 25fps
Recording double-system sound on a 744T with feed to HVX
Seeing subtle speed changes during fifty second takes (sometimes in the middle of the take, but sometimes toward the end).
Files transferred to Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 via Log & Transfer
Resulting QuickTimes show sync drift of two frames for every twenty frames when looking at the camera embedded audio and the same rate of drift when using the synced-up double-system audio.
QuickTime inspector says that QuickTime file playing rate is a constant 25fps
Audio files played independently in QuickTime player report a constant 25fps frame rate.

Is this a P2 card problem?
Why does the QuickTime inspector report no inconsistency?

I had this same problem, I'm guessing you may have had the same cause. Are you capturing the footage to your internal drive or to a usb (external) drive? I captured to an external drive and about half way through (sometimes sooner, sometimes not at all) the sound would shift away from the picture. Try re-capturing (importing) to your internal hard drive or a firewire 800 drive.

I capture from the cards via the P2 card reader.
I transfer the intact folder structure from the cards to the internal hard drive.
I then launch FCP 6.0.6 and via Log and Transfer tool I convert the .MXF wrapper to a QT. At this stage, I am working from the internal hard drive.

Currently, I am working on a hunch that the Panasonic drivers are corrupted or out-of-date.

I'll report back once I've looked at that issue.

Thanks for the comments, it's one of those things that makes you long for the simple life (whatever that is)

Right? You'd think for 5G's for a camera and another 3 G's for cards and a thousand bucks for the software, life would be a lot easier...
