HVX201AE HD Settings

This may sound crazy but I can't get the settings right for shooting 1080i/50i on my HVX201ae. I get stuttering double edges as I pan (the effect is rather like having the field dominance incorrectly set for those that are familiar).
In the 'Recording Setup' menu I set the 1080i/50i option. A colleague suggested that the camera might need a firmware upgrade??
P2 viewer recognises the clips as HD and importing them into Adobe Premier CS4 works fine. But on playback the stuttering makes the clips unwatchable. This is seriously driving me crazy! Any clues?

And you're sure the playback issue is NOT related to the edit comp and its setup? Fast Hard drives, etc?
1080i/50i DVCPROHD shot on the 200 should look and play nicely. Are you viewing it on an ext. broadcast monitor?
A firmware upgrade is not the issue.
