HVX200AP : ND Filter stuck on 1/8 and only NTSC ?

Hi all !

I've bought an old HVX200AP but it seems to be stuck on the 1/8 ND filter. It just blinks on the screen whatever I do. Is there any software way to reset it ? Do I need to open it ?

Also, the seller told me the camera is set to NTSC and that cannot be changed. Is there any way to solve this problem as I work in a PAL region ? Is the PAL/NTSC even relevant today if I don't plan to use the footage on a DVD but only on youtube and others ?

Thanks for your help !

Did the seller also tell you the ND was stuck? If not and you used Paypal, just return it and get a PAL one - there should be plenty to choose from.
I don't recall the specifics of the HVX's "HD" picture anymore, sth like the the 1920 was only a squeezed 1440 or sth (Barry Green still on here?).
In HD and for online use it doesn't matter anyways, as you said. 24p should be available in all versions of the HVX.

It's been 13 years since the HVX came out so I may not remember which ff the top of my head but:

If the screen is flashing ND 1/8, that doesn't mean the ND is stuck on 1/8, it means the camera is overexposed and it's telling you to set the switch to 1/8.

I don't think the HVX.was a world camera, I think there were definitely NTSC and PAL versions and you cannot convert one to the other. 24P is available only in an NTSC HVX200, the PAL version offered 25P.

I got the camera for free so no way to change it... Don't look a gift horse in the mouth... That sort of things. :)

Anyway the PAL/NTSC thing is not a problem for online use but the 1/8 ND filter is because it just keeps flashing even when I select the ND 1/8 setting. Thing is I'm gonna have to shoot lots of night and early morning shots so I'm worried about this.

Thanks for your help guys !

Set the Iris on a fixed setting like 5.6, and then move the ND filter switch through its various settings. If f the exposure changes every time, then it's not stuck. If it doesn't change, then yeah, it's stuck.
