HVX200A weird dark spots, URGENT!

Hi all first off thanks for reading this. Did a search but didn't find anything. I'm having issues with my HVX that Ive owned for 3 years now. I'm in the middle of shooting the PDGA world championships here in santa cruz and all of a sudden right before an interview this morning my camera started acting up. It keeps getting this weird dark vertical banding in the picture, and when I put the lens cap on when the cam is still on, the banding turns to a rainbow of vertical colors. I can fix it by black balancing, but it keeps doing it if I shut the camera off or go to the P2 menu and even sometimes just with leaving it running. It's been pretty hot and we have been shooting no stop for 10-12hrs a day, so maybe it's overheated. Has anyone every experienced this before? I've attached a screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about.

maybe try a system reset of the camera to factory settings (check the manual, i've never done it but have read about it), and maybe try a different scene file, but that's probably a stretch. The non-stop shooting and heat sure sounds like a possibility.
