So I read in another thread awhile back that the hpx170 comes with a 5 year factory warranty while the hvx200a comes with only a 1 year warranty. I then read somewhere else (forgive me for not being able to remember where) it is a 1 year warranty with a 4 year extension when you register your product with Panasonic. With that said is this referring to the hvx or is this how the hpx warranty works? Just a little confused on this one.

The HPX170, since it has no tape mechanism comes with a 1-year warranty and when you register the camera before a certain time (30 days I think but I'm not sure) you get that warranty extended another 4 years. Since the HVX200A has a tape mechanism you get the one year but not the 4 years if you register.

I just purchased a new HVX-200APJ and it only has a 1 year warranty but I did purchase a 4 year mack extended warranty for $199.00.
