HVX200a vs. HPX170 - image quality only

I don't think Panasonic themselves, nor any authorized dealers, have quoted such a price or the inclusion (or not) of any P2 cards, so -- I'd say the blogger is probably guessing. I'd love to see it come in at that price though, that'd be sweet.

I believe that $5995 is the projected list price for the 170, same as the 200A. I recall Jan saying that in her NAB video clip about it. Since the 200A is about $5200 street (B&H), the 170 should be about the same too. If that includes a 16 GB card, then it'll be a very compelling alternative indeed...

I've altered my shooting schedule to use the 170 for Twilight Fest. Here's to hoping it comes in sooner than later!

My guess is it retails for $5550 bundled with a 16 GB card.

Hey, buy my a1 because I am selling them to change all my gear over to hvx because I feel in love with the look of the hvx compared to the A1...

I like the look of the hvx myself, but if it doesen't reslve more reolution then the 200a then an upgrade would be pointless for me and a wait on a higher res camera with the same pana mojo would be a better option for me.

At this point, as I compare the image quality of both my a1 and hvx200a i'm stoked that the a1 delivers such a sharper image without sacrifising the filmic look as do the sony ex1, and at $2000 savings. the hvx200a will be heading back to b&h photo in return for another canon a1.
