HVX200A Settings for Shooting in the Snow

A beautiful snowfall has graced my town and I'd love to go outside and shoot, but I'm having a difficult time finding the right settings. I'm new to this camera and any camera that hasn't been fully auto, so I'm trying to learn. Bear with me please :p

All help is much appreciated.

There's a lot of choice for settings which depend largely on what result you want to achieve.

If you're shooting in snow with sunlight, I'd suggest using the ND filters, the switch on the left side of the camera near the lens, by switching an ND filter on - you will reduce contrast which could be a problem

You could also adjust the shutter speed, increase it to a higher number to reduce exposure - if you want to have wider aperture for more selective focus.

You'll have no problem white balancing ;-)

Brilliant!

Thank you Hawkeye. I knew all about that filter, as well as the shutter speed, but it never hit me to try that. I had played with them, noticing that the light exposure was greatly diminished, but for some reason it just never hit me. The learning curve seems quite steep for this camera and I'm more of a visual learner than a book learner, and there really isn't much out there that isn't in text form. Slowly, but surely, haha.

Much appreciated though!
