So I've got this M3...................and all of a sudden: Motor Noise (https://www.dropbox.com/s/33ei55w68k9kb6m/Redrock Noise.MOV) <--- Video Here. Anyone have similar experiences? Or is this one just too loud. There is the standard motor noise when its just sitting still. Then when I pan to the left, there is that weird loud noise that appears out of nowhere.

Thoughts?

Thank You.

Ask redrock. They provide pretty good product support and will likely want to know about potential faults with their gear.

It is an odd sound though. My first thought would be that either the nut holding the ground glass to the motor is misaligned or not tight enough or unbalanced in some other way. Is there any distortion in the image?

No effects on the image though. I mean its perfect (at least in the way i see it). Its just annoying. I just tested it again now and that weird loud noise is heard, this time, when panning right. You might be right EBS, unfortunately, there is no way to test it without opening the M3. The whole disk covers the entire front area so no way of getting in there too.

I don't have an M3 but both my M2 and M2E are both accessible through a removable panel at the bottom. If the M3 is the same just be careful when removing the motor, it's squeezy. If you can't get in or don't feel confident to dissassemble it maybe best to wait for redrock to get back to you. I had fun taking mine apart and figuring out the calibration but then I didn't spend any where near as much as the M3 on mine. And I had 2 so could afford to mess up.

I tell a lie, the M2 accesses through the top. It's the battery access is the bottom (can't believe I forgot that, it's a major design flaw and serious pain in the butt - I always try to use the 12V rather than dismantle my rails to access it). The other thing to be wary of if you manage to open the M3 is that the flip is built into the unit.

The motor has stopped spinning now. Well, it still spins at very low RPM occasionally upon powering it up but now it just remains still and the led lights keep blinking 3 times. The manual doesn't help much either.

I assume that you've tried new batteries or a different powerpack. If the led is blinking in a repeating pattern then it might be an error code. It sounds like a dead motor, electrical fault such as a short or dry joint or a controller issue if it has one. You'll definitely need to wait to hear back from redrock.
