HVX200A Manual Focus keeps going to Auto - and firmware issue

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it ain't rocket science.

I keep putting the focus on manual, but it keeps going to auto focus. When i force it to infinity, it shows M. but the spring pops it back to M which goes into Auto. (ODD).

anyway, anyone else with this issue?

also, my firmware is 4.07.00. the latest on the panasonic site shows 4.06.
