No differences in basic operation. The differences are going to be in the package (the American version includes a 16GB P2 card and The HVX+HPX Book) and in the warranty - the American version is serviced and supported by Panasonic North America; the Japanese version is serviced and supported by Panasonic Japan. If you bought a Japanese version in the US, you would have no warranty coverage in the US and would have to send it to Japan for any necessary repair work.
Hi Barry,
Thank you for clearing that up. What about if the company that offers a warranty would that be a smart buy or should I just buy the American version ?
I don't have any experience with aftermarket warranty companies. Buying the American version includes about $1,000 of stuff in the box, so the only way to even think about considering a Japanese version is if a) it's at least $1,000 cheaper, and b) that you are extremely confident that you won't need any warranty work.
Yes it's a pretty reliable source (BNH) and I trust them. Please excuse all of my questions.
I've also found the AG-HMC150
I've turned away for 1 year and I'm lost on how many different things have changed. This looks like the HVX200, but doesn't offer a tape deck (VTR). I've also noticed that it's advertised at 1080p, but then says in the specs that it's 720p native. Is this 1080p or not ?
I've also noticed that the camera doesn't mention anything about the P2 card inserts. Would this be a better route then going with the HVX200a P2, seems to be alot cheaper ?
