HVX200a DVX100b Discontinued

[ggrantly]

It would seem that both cams have been discontinued. The Panasonic site still shows them, but both BH and TMS are no longer listing them for sale and have a discontinued message on their sites. This isn't unexpected, but sad since they both made so much history.

Now Sony on the other hand still make an incredible amount of dated cams for some reason. Anyone want to buy a tape based hdv cam?

Panasonic announced a while ago that the DVX100B was being discontinued; something about some parts no longer being available. A sad day indeed.

The HVX200A, as far as I know, hasn't been announced as discontinued...

[ggrantly]

Maybe not announced, but BH and Texas Media are no longer selling.

Now my DVX100b is a collector's item!
(still love that cam)

I'll pour one out tonight and wrap an arm around my good old DVX100a.

Well someone from B & H is sadly misinformed. I will mention it to their rep. The HPX170 is not discontinued.

Best,

Jan

so is everything going to cmos?

Pretty much all has.
The new Panasonic line, the new Canon line,JVC, Sony has been for a while. The last 3ccd prosumer cams I see still being sold new are the HMC150, HPX170, and the JVC HM150. Even the XHA1s is gone now.
