HVX200 Zoom Control Issue

HVX200 owners,

My HVX200P has developed an issue with the zoom control. The motor continues to pull the lens back out wide even after I've let go of the zoom control rocker.

Just wondering if anyone else out there has had (or is having) the same issue.

Any suggestions before I send it off for service or, what a similar repair might cost if you've had the same issue.

Thanks for the info.

It is likely the rocker switch has gone bad. Do both switches do it? If it is only one, then you probably have your answer. On the Panny pro website, there are exploded views for each cam. You could then order the switch and DIY if you are brave. If not, send it to SpecCom or Compass and get it fixed.

If you isolate it to one switch, you could attempt spraying it with a dielectric solvent. to clean the contacts.

the problem is very common on these hvx200 more than you know iv seen a few for sale with the same issue, I called 2 repair techs and ask them the same question what's up with this ??? they have told me that the ribbons in side the hvx get some minor corrosion on them and can be cleaned but will happen again, it's a moisture issue . They both suggested that they be changed i can't remember cause it was a month or so ago when i started my search and called but i believe they said there was 4 ribbons , or might be 2 forget but the cost to repair was 175 to 200 dollars and could be done in an hour or so while you wait . I am just repeating what i've been told and have no way of confirming this cause i didn't buy the camera bought a different one with out issues and now am waiting for it's arrival ...
