Hello, we all know that HVX200 can shoot in 16:9 but what is with true wide screen 2.35:1 picture like in most cinema feature films? I know that this can be acheeved in post production but how to shoot in this mode? I think that just go more far from the objects when shooting and put those black lines in postproduction is not good solution.

The only way to do it is in post production - or you could theoretically use an anamorphic lens adaptor, if one existed for the hvx. There is no setting for this on the camera.

I "heard" (maybe it was a joke -- I wasn't in the conversation) shooting 16:9 in camera (so either HD, or sqeeze mode) and mounting a 16:9 anamorphic lens as well will give you 2.35. Once you cpature the footage, your NLE will stretch the in-camera squeeze or HD aspect ratio. And again you unsqueeze/stretch (from the 16:9 lens) the footage to get the 2.35. Again, I heard this, it maybe a bucket of lies.

It depends on what screen your going to play it on, if your going to plasma or lcd. If you check the aspect of a lot of films they are all different and it depends what feel you are trying to create. If you want to fill the screen up with all of the pixels thats different than the ratio for film. Home theatre screens are all different depending on what they display. Whether they have to upsize or downsize the picture. Using anamorphic adapter on camera and converting it for film is supose to be the best way for 2.35:1
