HVX200 VTR Mode Problem

Hi, I'm posting tonight on behalf of a friend without internet access. Tonight, when he turned on his HVX, it immediately began to make a lot of noise from the tape deck, as if fast-forwarding or rewinding, and the screen went blue... at that point, he couldn't turn it off using the power button and had to manually remove the battery. He's powered it on a number of times since, using both the battery and AC power, and tried removing and replacing his P2 cards, but the same thing happens each time. He also mentioned that a symbol occasionally appears in the top left corner of the screen that looks something like an upside down light bulb.

Does this issue sound familiar to anyone? I imagine odds are against him for getting it fixed for tomorrow morning, but any input would be much appreciated

I had 2 panny cams that did not turn off, but also would not operate. Service center sounds like the only fix.

Make sure he tries the 'reset' button behind the LCD, just in case it is a simple fix.
