HVX200 vs. 5D

i do the cinematography, light and editing for a short film.
At the casting i decided to use the HVX200 (without the Letus) and the Canon 5D
it's scary how good that Canon is, esp in noise reduction and sharpness issues. But the stabilizer in the lense ruined any kind of sound. Needs an external mic.

i've gonna make a life test and film a fast and a slow scene with both cams to see wich one i prefer. I still fear the rolling shutter issue on the 5D.

i really don't like the look of the 5D. it looks so glaringly digital it makes me want to vomit when i see it. the HVX at least looks a bit more filmilke which is a bit better

also in the 5D footage there were extreme banding issues in your footage but in the HVX there were none at all

it just boggles my mind how knee-jerk we all are just based on specs. a 1.x gen "still cam w/vid capability" being compared to a video cam for video use? are we that freakin desperate for more res?

Funny, I prefer the look of the 5D. The colors pop a lot more. But really, who cares what you choose. Just pick a a tool depending on your need.
