Hello...I am going to be shooting on my HVX200 and need to deliver footage to another shooter using a z1. He requested 1080i, so I plan to shoot in 1080i/60 for him on the p2 cards. What is the best settings to match his z1, and what is the best way to get him footage? If I connect my firewire to an HDV camera, can I send the 1080 out the firewire? Have yet to get that one to work.
Help.

Hmmmmmmmm that is a tough one. I have shot and edited on both many times. I would say as far as delivery goes. upload your p2 footage into your editing system (Avid?) and you can output from your editing system HDV directly into his camera. I have AVID so it is rather easy to switch from 1080i60 to 1080i/60 HDV. But i don't know how other systems work.

I wouldn't think it is possible to go from your camera directly to his deck/camera. It is two different formats. The HVX200 is DVCPRO HD and the Sony Z1 is HDV. Plus of course you are recording on a MXF file not a digital tape etc. where you can ilink the two.

As far as the look goes? Ugh good luck. I never really liked the actual look of the Sony proconsumer cameras - including the HDV models. My suggestion is at least don't shoot on 24p, on either camera because they will look drastically different. The 24p (or should i say 24f look on the Sony's is a bit stuttery) and the color of the Sony cameras are a little off and monotone. Particularly in Sony Cinemalook settings. I would say set both cameras so that they look as less "filmic" or cinematone as possible. Make them look like video

hope everything works out - but as far as deliverables/tape - put it in your editing system and then output to his camera.
