HVX200 to External HD

im sure this has been answered 1000 times over. Is there any way to record directly to an external HD without a Firestore or laptop. Just straigt to a simple external HD you'd buy from a store?
 
From what I understand the answer is no.

You can shoot to p2 then offload to an HDD hooked to the camera....but you CANNOT shoot straight to an HDD.
 
oh ok....i have another question then. If I get a small one that can be bus powered will the HVX power it like a computer would?
