Hvx200 Repair?

Hi all. My camera's p2 wasn't working, so I took it a repair center and they,ve quoted me $1850 to repair it. The diagnosis was at first a P2 Motherboard but that turnrd not to be the problem, now it's "CODEC BOARD" that needs replacement. Does anyone know of this problem? and if so, how much did it cost you?
Maybe a better question is... for a faulty P2 , does this quote seem fair? It's from an authorized service center. Please share your experience.

i would shop a round a bit more too, find other service centers. if ur in a major city like ny or la, abel cinetech offers good repair service. u can even call panasonic direct and get a quote from them. but from what ur saying, that board is like... half the camera in itself, it's not gonna be cheap... are you still under warranty?
 
My warranty expired a long time ago. I called Panasonic to ask about that part and they told me they didn't carry 'em anymore, which I find strange and they insisted on me finding a local repair center. Another Panasonic parts supplier I called didn't know what it was. I still love my camera but this is way too steep of a price for just repair.
 
depending on where your at, i might be able to help. Im located in LA and i know somebody who can fix it for $600...my codec board went bad on my HVX200 as well and he got it going good, as new....let me know
