hvx200 p2 mxf - how to force import to bin

here's the situation:http://community.avid.com/forums/p/68683/384242.aspx#384242

i have a largish ~ 500Gb set of SD MXF media. have moved the files to \avid mediafiles\mxf\1
accessed them /w the media tool and created my "dailies" bin.
now i discover that some of the files have NOT shown up in the bin. this obviously is detrimental to the edit, and quite puzzling
i've not yet figured out what's the logic behind which files get rejected, but suspect it's a largish group of files that the media tool claims are all of 9:53:10 in length despite their actual running time varying.
don't have access to the original P2 files anymore, so i'd like to find a workaround on how to force avid to import them. the metadata maybe somehow corrupt, but they do all play fine with a media player.
perhaps it could be a permissions -issue, but i have gone to check - "everyone/system/users/me" all have full access to the files.
thoughts? wisdom?

the answer is (just figured it out): these clips are sub-clips that will not appear on the bin as individual entries - the cam has split the file to multiple files according to some max file size limit. therefore - despite not all files in the directory appearing on the bin, all the media IS accessible from there, you just can't reach it by a reference to the media file name.
