HVX200 (original) for tv broadcast

I have just moved to a part time job so I can really pursue my dream of shooting videos. I would like to hopefully produce DVD's but I also like the idea that I could potentially get a video broadcast on television. I am going to be doing work in controlled settings where I can set up the necessary lighting, so low light capabilities is not on the top of my list. Here's my main question.

Do television stations accept footage shot on an HVX200 more readily than that shot on a HMC-150 for example? I could pick up a used HVX200 for about 3 grand or a HMC-150 for about the same.

Would television stations look at footage captured in AVCHD as consumer and not worthy of their time? I apologize for my ignorance in dealing with broadcast networks.

My computer is an octo-core 2.8 mac pro with 12 gigs of ram so I could handle the processing of AVCHD but don't want to limit my distribution options.

Would they be picky for High Def channels but not care about AVCHD if broadcast in SD? Would the factors such as the color spacing of capture in DVCPRO-HD be appealing to networks regardless of output in high def or down-converted to standard def? Thanks very much in advance.

each broadcast outlet has their own set of specs. but in over a decade i have yet to have anything kicked back at me.

when you get into the big leagues, like sending something to discovery channel (and by that i DONT mean sending to your local cable company to advertise on discovery channel - but actual discovery channel programming) they have rules that shows can only contain certain amounts of XYZ kinds of footage, but even then from what ive heard, im pretty sure dvcproHD from the hvx200 is acceptable.

Never had anything kicked back in over a decade. That's impressive. I guess I haven't either, but then again I haven't sent anything off....yet. ha ha. What cameras do you shoot with? Are broadcasters interested in content regarding say "Historic Town documentaries with lots of interesting old people interviews" or "environmental videos"? Should I shoot first and then start contacting broadcast outlets or talk to people as I'm working?

ive shot with everything from vhs, high8 and betaSP in the old days to HDV, dvcproHD, xdcam, yadda, yadda... recently.

i say, shoot your show and then pitch it to outlets. if they decline you can always market it yourself or enter it in festivals.
