HVX200 or HPX170

Hello, I currently am using an HVX200, but have thought about trying to either sell or trade for an HPX170 as I don't use the tape deck. Which camera is better? Don't know about the HPX170 very much so as much insight as possible would be great from users on here as you all seem like you know what you are doing.

HPX170 is an evolved, improved, better version of the HVX200. I like it in every conceivable way better than the HVX200. If you don't need the tape deck, the HPX170 is better. Better sensitivity, better color reproduction, better ergonomics, better features.

The HVX200 has two advantages over the HPX170:
1) it does have a tape deck, if you need that (of course, if you don't need it, this isn't really an advantage...)
2) its focus ring doesn't get stiff in freezing or sub-freezing weather. The HPX170's ring will stiffen up.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It seems like the HPX170 costs less, at least on places like amazon, is it a fairly even trade if I found someone who wanted to trade? Which way would it favor if it did favor one end? (assuming equal hours and condition)

If you could trade an HVX200 away to get an HPX170, you should dance on pointed toe and laugh yourself silly. That would be a big win, for whoever got the HPX170.

Fair enough, maybe I'll look into just selling the hvx200 and getting a used hpx170 or offering money on top of the trade. Thanks again.
