Has anyone screened HVX footage in a theater, and how did It compared to regular film or high definition cinema? I have heard someone saying that it compares to 16mm.

I have a short film in development and Im pretty much sure Im going with a HVX200E. But for the final output to a film festival etc., you'll have to get it on HD format DVCPRO tape or something? And what hardware do you need to rent or own to do that?

Be happy to hear from you experts soon.

There are a few threads on filmouts with the HVX - try and do a search within this area specifically.

The HVX compares very well to S16mm film in native resolution. Super16 resolves at a relative 100 lines per millimeter (approx 1250 x 740), so it is quite close to the HVX specification.

The manner in which the HVX achieves higher resolutions like 1080p has also been discussed ad-nauseum. Of course, the true progressive and 24fps capability of the HVX makes it a logical choice for transfers as pulldown of redundant frames can be minimized or completely eliminated depending on which mode you've acquired in.

Thanks for your tip. The thing is that I probably have to shoot at 25f/s (HVX200E), I hope nothing gets really screwed up in the process from PAL to NTSC. But I guess the major film festivals can show PAL screenings aswell, due to the international competitions.
I'll think I have to dig deeper into the different pulldowns and how they work, because I have never made something really professional before.
It wouldnt be good to make an entire short in the wrong format etc. :violin:
