I am going travelling and just bought an hvx200 and netbook. Im having trouble watching any footage on it. Ive downloaded the proper driver for windows 7 and vlc to play the mxf file but still nothing. I dont care about editing as i will buy a mac later, but i want something small to watch the files for when im travelling. any thoughts?

If you have P2 Viewer installed, you then use it to create a "virtual P2 card" on your hard disk, and then it can see the clips and play them back.

Netbooks are notoriously low on horsepower (CPU, RAM, GPU and HD speed). Maybe, just maybe putting in an SSD would help, but I doubt it. Making sure that the bare minimum of tasks and services is running might help too.

are you sure the version of "windows" on the machine is capable of doing this?
about 90% of true "netbooks" come with a VERY crippled version of windows called "windows starter" and it may not be able to do what you need it to do AT ALL...

that's why when i had to buy a netbook. i went with the 11" acer one line. as they come with more ram and a full version of windows 7.

I have run an Acer netbook for two years as a field capture device... works beautifully to dump cards and just check to make sure files transferred correctly, etc. P2 viewer runs well enough on it, remember it is a small computer not really designed for something like this so its not going to be perfect...
