HVX200 in a PAL country+more...

24P is desireable for storytelling and films, but not necessarily for commercials and promotional videos that are usually pretty fast-paced. If you are shooting the latter for the US (NTSC) market, you would want the ability to record 30P for those.

I really think that you should stick with a camera that matches your local TV broadcast standard -- the headaches this will save you far outweighs the cost savings from importing the camera from someplace else.

Check that out with your local customs. You pay: transport, assurance, customer fee, import duties (like 10%) and over that all combined: VAT. Import fee is for sure more than one or two percent. If there is something wrong, you need to send it back. That costs you.

One thing that is not clear to me for inter EU trade is the following: if, for example I would like to import an HVX from GMP in UK to another country in EU and their price is, say, 5200 USD and this is the price on the proforma invoice WOULD they put VAT over that amount when they sell outside UK but still intra EU? This I do not know. I know that the EU country recepient would not put VAT on goods coming from EU because of the free goods traffic but does this mean that the shipping country would not put VAT when they export to another EU country?

I know that if you import the HVX from, say, Singapore into EU the price gets the VAT over it because of the import and the receiver pays both the price and VAT. Does anybody know exactly how does it work when you do the same intra EU?

Individuals and companies pay the local country VAT.
The companies recover the paid VAT because they invoice VAT to their own customers.

If you buy something abroad, you can get a detax from your vendor, by providing airticket and passport.

When you enter your country, you normally have to pay the local VAT, plus eventual import tax, depending on the good and the EEC/National law.

An EEC company with a VAT number can buy in another EEC country without paying the VAT of this country. This is a simplification for EEC companies.

If an individual purchase a good in a foreign EEC country, he pays the VAT there once, and has no further VAT to pay, regardless if the VAT rate is lower/higher.
This is a simplification for individuals (Free EEC circulation of goods).
