HVX200 Hood Cover

I recently unattached the hood cover on my HVX200 because it was getting in the way of the buttons...then I promptly misplaced it...finding it after seeing a new one costs about $60.

How is everyone handling keeping the hood cover out of the way of buttons, but not losing it?

Would love to hear what everybody is doing to find a happy medium keeping it attached but not in the way.

Aside from always putting it away in your camera case/bag as soon as you take it off the camera, it looks like there isn't really a good solution to keeping them from getting lost in the first place. Just based on the number of lens hoods we've replaced (still nothing compared to the super easily misplaced lens cap or P2 card cases!).
