Can anyone tell me how many working hours is predicted for hvx200 to have when using it properly.
What is the average life of one HD camera?

I don't know. A lot (if you take care of it). The HVX has only been out a little over a year, so most people that own one are still under warranty.

A long time. Don't worry abou that. If you treat it right, it will last you long past its obsolecense

well FYI, dont do the Framerate hack unless absolutly neccesary. I did it last night and i got a big "recording error" on the LCD..... I freaked, and proptly stopped using it.

I'm sure the frame rate hack won't cause any permanent damage. I had the same problem, so I reset it back to factory defaults. Works fine.

Agreed. I've seen that when trying to record 25fps on the US unit, but if you just set it back to a regular frame rate and power off/on it all works fine again.

So 2fps etc. is totally safe. There were a couple of frame rates where it just wouldn't record, and 25 was one of them IIRC, but there's no lasting damage done, it just fails to record and you have to power off/on.

With no moving parts - minus the mechanics in the lens - it's got to be alot.
Whatever it is - my guess would be that it is much higher than any camera relying solely on a tape drive.

Framerate hacks?
I HAVE been gone too long.
Guess I've got some reading to do before my HVX gets here next week.

I have a VX1000 in use that is now 8 years old and was used a lot on skis, in deep powder snow and even is still used as a deck (rewinding and playing DV into the editor). It works fine still. I am sure the HVX will work longer, because it doesn´t even have a tapedrive. The only part that could be a problem is the P2 connector. If you pull P2 in and out hundreds of times...who knows.

The hvx has no moving parts so techinically it should last years longer than a tape based camera.

The HVX does have a tape drive, it's just not its most talked about feature.
