Since plugging an external firewire HD directly into the HVX is not going to work like a firestore, is any company planning on coming out with just a firewire controller interface that would plug between the camera and an external firewire drive, so you would not be limited to 100GB, and would allow you to just swap out cheap 400-500GB external drives for storage?

Firestore tried that with the Firestore 1. It sucked. And it wasn't Focus's fault.

Hard drives are notoriously dificult to control, and if you had the right drive the FS1 worked great, any other drive and you had loads of problems. The market changed faster than Focus could keep up. So they went to integrated drives only.
