HVX200 and the MULTIRIG, opinions?

Definitely worth it, especially if you need a fairly portable rig that'll do lots of things! If you do a lot of handheld, you know the HVX gets HEAVY, and this rig easily allows you to handle it both longer and better.

Most asuredly worth it. Check out the MultiRig pics on the web site. You will see yours truly with my HVX on a prototype model of the MultiRig. I have the real thing right now and basically will not shoot anything hand-held without it. The other great feature (since I travel frequently) is that it just folds so compactly it is easy to pack.

Once you use it, you don't want to go back to handholding anymore. It's also the most compact device; I often leave it on the camera when it's in the run bag. Multirig is not rock-steady on a tripod w/HVX, but ymmv.
A full blown zacuto rig might be better, but .......

the multirig is definitely a great hvx companion, and I will say a must for this wonderful but chunky camera. i use it a lot in the non-shoulder mode with just the spring loaded pod supporting it, this is my favorite
they just have a nice video clip of the multirig in the site www.dvmultirig.com

I see the video shows a monitor being attached, but does not show the operator using one.
Does anyone know if the multirig allow a monitor to sit in a position where its readily viewable?

The multirig is just like the name implys... You can rig a multitude of things to it. And he supplies a few xtra connectors that are quite good to get you started.

The video is showing that you can mount all kind of acc. on each grip end. The threads are standard 1/4" and you get a hotshoe and 3/8" adaptors in the package, so virtually any monitor can be mounted with the aid of a simple ball head or an articulated arm.

How about everyone post pics of their rig configurations with their MULTIRIG and HVX! I have a multirig and i've only used it once.. I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the piece that drapes over your shoulder to sit comfortably.. But I know I will learn to love the unit once it's set up correctly.. How does everyone have theirs..?

Image Stabilizer on or off?

Image Stabilizer on or off?

Those of you who are using this, do you use the stabilizer? If so, results? Thanks.

It's "different" from my GlideCam Pro 4000, but really a nice look. I did a review of it for Event DV magazine (eventdv.net) that is on-line. Do a search on their web site. Cool thing is, you can lock the stablizer bar, or loosen either of the two joints to have a sort of shock-absorber effect. Very flexible. I found with the stablizer bar, and shoulder mounted, I was comfortabel all day shooting a local Powwow from morning to night. With this set up, I was able to let go of the left grip and adjust things on the HVX while I was shooting, very easily.

Ben, I read your review and thought it very well done (and makes this device sound very appealing). I apologize for not being clear above; I was wondering if people turn on the Optical Image Stabilizer on the HVX200 while using the dvmultirig. I appreciate any comments

Yes, I personally do turn it on with the Multi Rig. The only time it's not on is when it's on a firm tripod or jib arm.

thnks.

I will try Alan Gordon first. Just noticed the new nice movie on the front page.
