I would like to have this setup working but it did not till now, are you sure this will work in HD? You have to be in tape mode, there is no HD output then from FW...
 
TheatrixMP writes something here that makes no sense to me (quoted below). When the HVX is in tape mode on my HVX (activating the internal deck) then what's coming out the firewire port is strictly SD, and DV25 to boot. I have to switch to P2 mode (which shuts down the internal deck) to get DVCPro50, let alone HD out of the firewire port.

Is there some sort of SD card hack going on here, or is TheatrixMP just misinformed? He writes:

Theatrix is misinformed.

The camera outputs whatever mode it's in. If you're in tape mode, the only thing coming out of the firewire port is DV.

If you're in HD mode, there is no tape drive available.
 
My apologies. The information given to me from Focus was incorrect. Finally, an answer to my several-week old question... Here's what Matt McEwen from Focus enhancements said today to me in an email:

Hi Scott,

This scenario is not possible. This is a correction that needs to be made to our FAQ.

The draft of the quick start guide is an absolute necessity, so email mark and get it... if you own the firestore your doing yourself a favor...

we all know the FS-100 manual is one of the worst written manuals out there (sorry mark :) ) , but man i tell you that quickstart guide pulls a 360 and it really kicks ass.
